Investigative Journalism in a New Tech World

We all remember the infamous Panama papers that rocked the world, highlighting the potential of data led investigative journalism for the first time. Today, in a new-tech world, we have a completely new playing field that investigative journalists are beginning to explore, especially with the growing potential of AI tools. How is data journalism transforming cross-border investigations? Is AI coming for our jobs? Should journalists fear or take advantage of AI?

These are the types of questions that Salomé Saldarriaga, a Colombian journalist who is currently a master’s student at the UCD Clinton Institute, will discuss with guests Emilia Díaz Struck, one of the ICIJ’s journalists behind the Panama papers investigation, and Professor Charlie Beckett, founder of the London School of Economics’ flagship Journalism AI project, in this Reporting the World episode.
